Anti-nausea medication given to help prevent vomiting and reduce nausea associated with anesthesia.
Surgery Scheduling
Spay & neuter procedures are available by appointment only. To schedule, please download our PetCare App or Call or Text us at 915-600-7408. Same-Day surgery appointments may occasionally be available if an opening remains. Clients interested in same-day availability MUST CALL between 8-8:30AM to confirm with us and must arrive by 9:30AM if approved. Please do not arrive without confirming availability by phone. Same-day appointments must still follow fasting rules listed below.
Surgery Drop-Off & Pick-Up
Surgical patients must be dropped off between 7:30–8:00 AM. Pets arriving outside of the designated surgery check-in window may lose their reserved surgical appointment. Pet owners must remain available by phone so our team can provide an appropriate pick-up time once their pet is ready to go home. Late Pick Up Fee of $25 will be applied 30 minutes after given pick up time.Â
Fasting Instructions
To help reduce anesthesia-related complications, such as aspiration pneumonia, please follow these fasting instructions carefully:
* Give your pet their final meal between 10:00 PM and midnight the evening before surgery.
* Do not give food after midnight.
* Fresh water may remain available overnight and should not be withheld.
Age & Weight Requirements
Pets must be at least 6 months of age and weigh 5 pounds or more to be eligible for surgery. We do NOT perform surgery on dogs or cats >7 years of age, <6 months of age, or weighing <5 pounds.Â
Vaccination Requirements
All surgical patients must be current on DHPP, Rabies, and Bordetella (dog) and FeLV, FVRCP, and Rabies (cat). Pets without acceptable proof of current vaccination (within 12 months of surgery date) will not be admitted for their procedure.
Pre-Anesthetic Bloodwork
Pre-anesthetic bloodwork is not required for routine spay and neuter procedures, but is strongly recommended at all ages to help identify underlying abnormalities that may affect anesthesia or surgery. If you elect to have pre-operative bloodwork performed, your pet must be brought to the clinic for the blood sample collection at least 7 days before the scheduled surgery date. Please keep in mind we can only collect blood samples on Friday-Sunday as we are closed Monday-Thursday.
Special Breed Considerations
For patient safety, our mobile clinic does NOT perform elective surgery on brachycephalic breeds, including French Bulldogs, English Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers, and Shih Tzus, due to their increased risk of airway complications.
Doberman Pinschers require additional pre-operative blood testing to evaluate blood clotting function because the breed has an increased risk of inherited bleeding disorders. Required testing must be completed at least 7 days before the scheduled surgery date. Please keep in mind we can only collect blood samples on Friday-Sunday as we are closed Monday-Thursday.
Fleas & Ticks
If fleas are found on your pet at admission, a mandatory fast-acting flea treatment (Capstar) may be administered to protect your pet, other patients, and the clinic environment. The owner is responsible for the associated treatment fee.
When Surgery May Be Declined
For the safety of our patients, surgery may be declined or postponed if the pet:
* Is not current on required vaccinations or appropriate vaccine documentation is not provided.
* Is younger than 6 months of age or greater than 7 years of age.
* Weighs less than 5 pounds.
* Has one or both testicles that have not descended into the scrotum (cryptorchidism).
* Has a medical condition, abnormality, or other medical concern identified by the veterinarian that makes elective surgery inappropriate for our mobile setting.
* Is a brachycephalic breed
In Heat Females
Do NOT schedule for a spay if female is currently in heat as that can increase bleeding risks.
C-sections
We do NOT perform C-sections or other emergency surgical procedures. Pets requiring emergency, advanced, or higher-risk surgical care should be evaluated at a full-service veterinary hospital.Â
*Cats must arrive in a secure carrier.
*Dogs must arrive on a leash or harness.
*Feral cats must arrive in humane trap cage or will be declined.
